What, like J-Lo?

Phew, what a year of weddings!

2008 has broken all records and it’s been a superb year for The Bespoke Wedding Company. The team and the office space has expanded with the workload, especially over the summer and we feel the need to lie down in a darkened corner for a while this winter to recover from the excitement. Please read on for a round up of our news … and in case you’re wondering, yes, still our most commonly asked question is ‘do you wear headsets and carry a kit bag like J-Lo?’

Party or Wedding?

2008 started with a very challenging and exciting project for clients whose brief was a ‘wedding party totally unlike any other’. And they meant it. A sticky floored nightclub in central London was transformed into a fun filled bespoke venue for their whistlestop 8 hour wedding party. Guests met on the steps of St Pauls Cathedral to be whisked off by coach to a secret daytime party location underneath London Bridge. The 30,000ft nightclub was transformed for the day into four distinct areas designed to thrill and surprise. As guests arrived they were handed a bloody Mary as lit flambeaux directed them to a Russian inspired cocktail reception complete with red and gold draping, Gorbachev look-a-like, floating Russian bears and hammer and sickle ice sculpture. From there the adults feasted on Italian cuisine and were entertained by operatic waiters within a white draped and beautifully dressed dining area, as the forty children had a party of their own in a purpose built crèche area. After lunch, it was time for some action in the circus with an array of options including face painting, plate spinning, juggling, and close up magic on offer. And to round the day off, guests were invited to relax and revive to the sounds, sights, smells and taste of Moroccan afternoon tea. We thoroughly enjoyed pulling all of this together and testing our creative and logistical skills to the max.

Recent Projects

And this was just the beginning

As spring got underway, the frequency of weddings stepped up.

In early May we were hired to helped in the last minute planning of a very relaxed country wedding with a tipi tent as the setting complete with large wood burning fire, long wooden banquet tables, bean bags and rugs. Guests were indulged with yummy vegetarian food, home-made pots of jam and plenty of merriment and great music. We’re delighted that this wedding will be featured in December/Januarys’ issue of national bridal magazine, Cosmopolitan Bride.

Next up was a wedding weekend with lots of style and attention to detail set in the heart of the beautiful Cotswolds at a private venue which had never hosted a wedding before and for guests most of whom had travelled from Australia and the US for the occasion – no pressure then! Our ambitious project involved a ‘down on the farm’ rehearsal dinner for 70, ‘hangover brunch’ and the wedding day itself was full of endless little personal touches, exquisite catering by Jalapeno London and flawless musical performances.

July was incredibly hectic organising an intimate outdoor blessing and party for a couple who wanted a smart, stylish yet relaxed wedding in the grounds of their beautiful Georgian home. Two weeks later we were welcomed by our friends at the gothic-inspired beauty that is Highclere Castle for a flower-filled and stunning civil partnership celebration.

And the season continues. We’ll send a round up of our late summer events in our next newsletter.
