The Brief
Carmen and Geoff met me by Skype and we didn’t meet in person for many months into their wedding planning. Living and working in Singapore, this British-born Chinese and Australian couple, were looking for a very English affair for their wedding guests, a large number of whom would be travelling from all corners of the globe. Stoke Park Club provided the luxurious country setting for their very British nuptials. Blessed with golf course and spa, it not only offered a fantastic wedding venue, but provided a wonderful weekend retreat where they could also host a welcome dinner and post-wedding brunch.

There was more than a dash of Aussie about the day as guest were introduced to each of the very special bridal party and finished with a hilarious Mr & Mrs quiz on the newly weds…

The Wedding Day
The wedding day itself began with a round of golf for the men, and pampering for the ladies, before a classic 3pm wedding ceremony in Stoke Park’s sumptuous Ballroom. The best of British was most definitely a subtle theme running throughout the day, and was created through a palette of soft pinks, blush and ivory that perfectly summed up the English country-garden meets Stately grandeur feel the couple had envisioned. There was more than a dash of Aussie about the day, of course, as guests were presented with a “Get with the Program” booklet, which not only told them what was happening where, but introduced them to each of the very special bridal party and finished with a hilarious Mr and Mrs style quiz on the newly-weds.

The cocktail reception could not have been more true to British form, starting with sunshine and 28 degree heat, and ending in winds and heavy showers; the weather stayed fine long enough, however, for the couple to escape on their golf buggy for romantic photos, while guests enjoyed garden games and elegant string music with a contemporary twist.
The Dinner
The call for dinner injected yet more Aussie tradition, as the bridal party coupled up and paraded into dinner to specially chosen pieces of music – all to rapturous applause from the guests! The simple, elegant tablescape detailing, complimented the lavish setting of The Fountain Room, where guests tucked in to a delicious feast that included a show-piece of five mini Great British Desserts - Banana sticky toffee pudding, apple and blackberry crumble, sherry trifle, bread and butter pudding, and custard cream ice cream.

Post dinner, guests were treated to a change of scenery, as a thoughtfully designed party setting was unveiled including a relaxed Versailles-inspired lounge area. There were more British-inspired culinary treats, and a vibrant dancing space where the DJ and band combination kept the party in full swing.
