Welcome to the truly bespoke wedding…
The Brief
We’ve always liked a challenge, especially one that involves detail, logistics and an opportunity to do something new. This wedding was an ambitious project from the very start, and gave us the opportunity to create a celebration that was both spectacular and entirely bespoke.
The Venue
Tucked away in secluded and exclusive St James’s Place, London, Spencer House, was the stunning stately home that hosted the entirety of this very special wedding. It became apparent very early on that the normal set up at Spencer House, most commonly a combination of the interior and a marquee, was not going to accommodate the requirements of the very well-known band that the couple had secured for their evening’s entertainment. So in addition to making the most of the already sumptuous Spencer House interiors for the earlier parts of the day, we set to work designing a completely bespoke party marquee, that would be revealed to the guests post dinner.
The Order of the Day
Guests were greeted at this already impressive venue, with welcoming flambeaux and vibrant up-lighting. Inside, the stunning period features and decor of Spencer Houses’s gilt-filled and opulent interconnecting rooms, were largely left to speak for themselves. Special attention was paid to warm and flattering lighting, and the fragrance and impact of voluminous flowers, which included a backdrop of eucalyptus, with masses of white hydrangea and white amaryllis with phlox, roses and stocks.

After the civil ceremony, guests were treated to impeccable Spencer House service, as they mingled in the Ante Room, Library and Dining Room, over Champagne and canapés to the accompaniment of a string quartet. Some might have noticed a very large white marquee erected across a glowing lantern-carpeted terrace lawn, but many didn’t realise this was there until later on!

Dinner was served in the wonderful Great Room and adjoining Lady Spencer’s room. Pale celadon green damask linen set the basis for rich table settings, including silver napkin rings and eight branch crystal candelabra raised on mirrored plinths. Around the base sat thick rings of snowy flowers using white amaryllis, lisianthus, paperwhites, hydrangea and roses, with grey senecio and rich green berried ivy foliage. Decanted fine wines and a delectable menu served by a wonderful Butler-led team, made the very most of this historical and grand setting.

Guests were invited downstairs to the Palm Room, where they were met with a ‘dessert station’ created by Spencer House’s specialist chefs. As the champagne continued to flow, the doors to the main house were subtly drawn back to reveal a new location for the guests to discover.
The Party Tent
This entirely bespoke party tent had taken seven days to build and install, and it was so at home in its setting, that many guests could hardly believe it was not a permanent structure. While classic and elegant white was the signature colour theme indoors, the party area popped with vibrancy, rich reds and moody lighting. This Moulin Rouge meets The Great Gatsby theme was carried throughout the bar, dance and lounge area, to create the perfect party venue. Beneath the shimmering chandeliers and over-sized transparent balloons, the seven-metre long black glitter bar with bespoke cocktails and specialist cocktail waiters, became a much-loved focal point for guests. An Art Deco inspired purpose-built black and mirrored dance floor, and stage fascia with theatre red drapes, promised something very special to come. A truly unique performance given by some much-loved music industry stars, was the perfect finale to a truly spectacular wedding.
